Introduction

Over the course of this semester, I have learned methods in which my writing can transition from high school level to college level. The main objective that I learned from this course was how to create a strong research question. Building around the research question through identifying the type of audience we want to reach in our essays. When it comes to writing, the important parts of your writing is your audience, the context, and the question. Your essay should prioritize answering the research question and providing strong evidence in order to support your context. Creating a plan is an important part in building your context as it shows that you know are created a solution to the issue that you are addressing. Your research question has to be theoretical and practical. It should be a question where you can research and provide credible evidence. Another important objective of this course would be finding credible evidence throughout databases and the ccny library. Not only using the internet, but also looking into books and databases from our ccny library. Adding important data from these sources builds strong analysis as it is supporting the claim that was created in order to answer the research question. Throughout this course, we have learned the different ways in which a writer can be successful in reaching their audience. In our writing we have to define the idea that we are trying to build through our own words and ideas. As we build a plan to support our claim, we have to lay out the negative and positive ideas that come with our subject. We have to come up with solutions and analyze how effective they would be to the problem we are criticizing. Our databases have to be credible in which they show how strong our claim is and if what we are talking about is based on facts and not opinions. Throughout this course of writing, we have learned the different kinds of writings there are in different kinds of objectives. There are proposals, conference papers, journal manuscripts, and peer review articles. We have learned the significance of these kinds of writings and when and how we should use them. Proposals are written in a different context, compared to conference papers. Journal Manuscripts are for a different audience compared to peer reviewed articles. All of these forms of writing, help prepare us for the different type of college writing we must do. Doing blog posts exposed us to different ideas and formats scholars use in order to write about topics that concern them. This course was an introduction to the types of writing we are going to do in the college level. This course helped transition my writing from high school level to college level through the different kinds of writings there are for different kinds of subjects and occasions. The key essential to college writing is the research question. Your essay will always be centered around the research question and what you must do to find a solution to the question you have posed in your writing.
